California coast roadtrip help.?
My husband and I would like to go down or up the coast the weekend of the 29th till the 1st. I don’t really want to go too north or too south… Will it be cheaper to go camping or rent a motel. Where are good beaches? Sights? Salt water tafee? Walking? Parks? Etc…in the central coast? I used to go to dillion beach all the time when I was younger… But I don’t want to travel more than north than that. Should we end or start the trip in sf? We’ve never been there before. Is there inexpensive or free things to do there? Sights to see? I am going to Make a list of places we should visit there and along th coast if I can with some directions. But we do want to not spend a whole lot.
Driving south from SF is best, you will be on the correct side of the road to see the best views of the ocean. I suggest you start in SF, spend a few days there. Then drive to the Monterrey / Carmel area, stay overnight somewhere around there, but make sure you spend some good time in Monterrey / Carmel (drive from SF is only like 3 hours. Oh, don’t forget Santa Cruz, it’s always fun.
When you’re in San Francisco, go to Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, maybe take the boat to Alcatraz. Try to go to Muir Woods if you can, it’s beautiful. Bring a sweater or coat, it can get cold along the cost. I’m jealous! That’s where I’m from!

What is there to do around Disneyland in California?
I’m planning a trip to Disneyland in California. I’ve never been there before and I’m trying to find out what there is do around that area. In Florida, besides the Disney theme parks, they have 2 Disney water parks, an animal park. There is also Universal Stuios, Islands of Adventures and Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Are there any places like this near Disneyland?
Are there other places worth seeing(it doesn’t neccessarily have to be Disney related).
Lastly, any good places to eat(preferably not a chain restaurant) & cheap places to stay(I’ll be traveling by myself)
Besides Disneyland, there is Disney’s CA Adventure. Right by Disneyland is Downtown Disney (I’ve never been to the one in Florida so I can’t say if they are the same or not) with restaurants and shops. There are also many other restaurants and shops within a few blocks. Angel’s Stadium is nearby if you’re into baseball and they have games when you go. Unfortunately, theme parks in CA are not nearby each other. Universal Studios Hollywood is about a 1 to 2 hour drive from Disneyland depending on traffic. On average, most of the other theme parks (Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain) are about 1-2 hours away (again, depending on traffic). Someone else suggested the beaches which will be nice this time of year.
I don’t know of any cheap places to stay since I’m a local. There are some smaller motels a couple of miles from the park (if you drive around there are many places to stay, but I don’t know any prices). I can’t think of any places to eat that aren’t chains since I’ve only seen chains, but then I haven’t really looked since I usually eat inside the park. I apologize for not being able to recommend anything.
