under water photography from the surface…..?

ok… a friend of mine saw a picture of a woman in a very large pool in a big fancy dress (underwater caused the dress to fan out to give a very nice effect)… but the woman was under water so you could not see the surface of the edges of the pool….. now that she saw that… she wants me to take pics of her like that… i told her i would if i could…i cant find a underwater case for my camera though… (nikon n55 / d50)… so if you know of a maker that would help… or another way to do the shot… i thought about from above the you would get waves in it… of the tip of the lens in the water… but thats a bit to riskey for my style… or if i shot from the outside of a dunk tank…

Try the glass bottom boat technique. Build a box with four sides and a glass bottom. The size doesn’t matter much so long as you have room to work but I think larger is better. Make the joints waterproof and float it on the surface of the water. You can then put your camera in it against the glass bottom to take your pictures. If necessary, you can cover your head and the camera with a dark towel to keep sky light from reflecting off the glass.
