I just cooked Indian rice, Basmati Brown Rice, &I don’t know if it came out right! And is this rice healthy?
This is my first time cooking Basmati Rice. I bought it at Trader’s Joe and I followed the directions on the bag. However, I’m used to eating rice that is very very soft, so i was wondering if Basmati Rice is suppose to be ……………or feel like dried corn that was soaked in water or like oatmeal. I don’t know how to describe the texture of the rice but it didn’t feel crunchy (dried) but it wasn’t super soft. So how am I suppose to know if it came out right (it did taste good though).
Also, is this rice suppose to be healthy? I’m trying a new diet!
I just made Basmati rice for dinner and NO it should have the same texture as a long grain rice. You did not cook it long enough. I don’t even measure my rice and water. Here is how my mother, grandmother taught me. fill your pan halfway with water then put the rice halfway up the water. that way you have about twice as much water as rice. Always use cold water and put it on the stove on high with no lid. Bring it to a rapid boil and then turn it down to low and put a lid on it. Cook it on low for about 10/15 minutes until it looks dry but not burning on the bottom. Rice is a good food. If you think about it some of the healthiest people on earth are Asians they diet is primarily seafood and rice. Remember though rice is starchy and therefor does have carbs.

These track well, or move in a straight line, but because of their extended length, are harder to turn. There are versions made for just day touring and these have less space but are made of lighter materials for better handling.
3)Whitewater Kayaks: This is what most people think of when they think Kayak. Tearing down some rapids, water splashing everywhere and a lot of speed and danger. These are shorter to increase the maneuverability of the Kayak around rocks and in fast moving water. They may have rounded bottoms and more upturned ends to deal with the waves. They are hard to paddle in a straight line and are not recommended for casual Kayaking.
4)Downriver Kayaks: These are specially designed to travel quickly and smoothly through the water. These are normally used for racing as they are very long and narrow which makes them tipsy and not very much suited for a novice Kayaker. They are very long and straight, which makes them go in a straight line easily; however, turning is more difficult.
When you buy a Kayak, you must consider how you will use it. If you are going for easy little day trips in a calm river or braving the roar of the rapids. You will also need to consider if you will be turning a lot, how fast you need the boat to be and the boats volume. The Volume relates to how much stuff you can store in your Kayak when you take it out. The more stuff you need to bring, the more volume it needs.
Lastly, the shape of the boat is important to consider. You will want to talk to your Kayak retailer and them know exactly how you intend to use your Kayak and how skilled you are. You will also need to get gear for yourself including a helmet, lifejacket, clothing, first aid gear and waterproof bags for any electronic devices you may need.

Drinking unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar to drink actually good for you?
I heard that drinking raw apple cider vinegar is good for you. What I wanted to ask is that my fiance accidentally bought it at Trader Joe’s instead of Whole Foods, and he bought the Trader Joe’s brand of unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Is that brand ok to drink? How many tablespoons do you mix with water and drink a day?
It is very good for you. I don’t drink it alone. I put it in salads and drink the vinegar from the bowl. I put some in chicken broth for a little added flavor.
