So it would appear the LCROSS impact was a success after all?

Obviously water on the lunar surface would enable prolonged visits to the moon and such water (ice) would undoubtedly make the manned crafts considerably lighter.
What I would like to know however, is given that the ice disturbed by LCROSS is some -230ºC, what would be the means to “heat up” this ice and if it really has been undisturbed for billions of years, what levels of purifying means would be required to harvest this and make its presence sustainable?
Would scientists want the water for hygiene, possible controlled plant life irrigation, potential rocket fuel etc or are there ambitions to purify the existing ice to drinking water standards?
There are no microbes to “purify” away, so I imagine simple filtering or perhaps distillation would be more than sufficient to get the dirt out of it.
