What do you think about the fact there is water on the moon? Can humans inhabit the moon now?
Why all of a sudden did they discover water?
Can humans now live on the moon if they figure out how to control the gravity stuff? Also if something happens to Earth can we move to the moon?
The amount of water that we have found on the Moon, both just recently and in previous studies, is not enough, in a viably retrievable way, to allow human habitation. Water was discovered quite a while ago through analysis of rocks. It was most recently confirmed by the spacecraft that slammed into the southern pole of the Moon; it blasted pieces of water ice up into the air (the Moon doesn’t have any air, that’s just an expression), and we were able to see it. But they are estimating that they “found” about 25 gallons of water. Yeah, that’s it.
If we ever want to live on the Moon, we can do it. We are close to being able to do it now. Well, maybe not actually close, but getting there.
Assuming that we did have water to drink, we have water recyclers that are used on the International Space Station, and they work very well. Food (plants) could theoretically be grown in hydroponic gardens (they don’t use growing soil). If we could bring enough oxygen and nitrogen (what we breathe is actually mostly nitrogen, not oxygen) to the Moon, we certainly have the technology to build some kind of dome, or building, or underground, wherever we wanted to live, to keep the air in. I’ll also assume that if we had the technology to bring the atmosphere, we also had the technology to bring enough to make our little home at a livable pressure.
If we could bring soil, that would be very nice.
We would need to bring animals with us, because people need meat. Even vegetarians need supplement capsules because they need the minerals and vitamins in meat. A lot of those vegetarians who are entirely vegetarian, and don’t ever eat any meat at all are surprisingly unhealthy. So bringing animals would be a problem, and then providing food for the animals to eat.
We would need something to process our human and animal waste, but we already do that. The problem with that is getting it to the Moon.
We need an electrical source to power our computers and some form of heater – if we didn’t have heaters, we would quickly freeze to death. Solar energy could possibly be used for this.
The BIG problem is how to shield our little Moon city from cosmic radiation. It is lethal. On Earth, our atmosphere either absorbs or reflects most of it back into space, so it doesn’t hurt us. On the Moon, there is no atmosphere, so we would have no shelter from the dangerous radiation from outer space and the Sun.
As far as gravity? It’s not really a problem for us. We might need to get used to bouncing around a little differently to get from place to place, but we would adapt to it. The most important thing that we would need some of the same exercise machines that they already use on the space shuttle missions and on the Space Station, because without the gravity that we have evolved to live with, our bones get weak and our muscles atrophy (shrink and get weak). But, if we could bring up those machines, we’d be okay.
We would need medical facilities.
There are loads of things that we’d need that I’m sure that I’ve forgotten.
But these are the very basics that we require.
Discovering water on the Moon is more “neat” to scientists trying to understand our solar system then it is actually useful to anything that most of us would ever want to do down here on our little planet.

In the Noble Quran, verses 14:32-33 say:
It is Allah Who has created the heavens and the earth, and caused water (rain) to descend from the sky, thereby producing the rain and brought forth different kinds of fruits as sustenance and food for man and for all other created beings,
And He has disposed for you the ships that they may run upon the sea, [laden] with passengers and cargo, at His commandment, by His leave,
In other words, and made the ships to be of service) subservient (unto you, that they) i.e. the ships (may run upon the sea at His command) by His permission and will; And He has disposed for you the rivers subservient unto you.
And He has disposed for you the sun and the moon, constant, moving in their courses without pause until the Day of Judgment,
and He made subservient (unto you the night and the day) which come and go.
He has disposed for you the night, that you may rest therein, and the day, that you may seek of His bounty therein.

How can future moon expeditions tap into the water supply there that was recently discovered?
Moon water discovered! Hopefully, this will be the spark that gets the US back on the moon and quick!
A moon mission and colony would help this country by creating lots of new jobs, building morale and patriotism, and re-establishing the US as the world leader without equal in the areas of science, engineering, and technology. The moon will certainly have valuable and even unknown minerals, oil deposits, and other resources that will pay off the cost of getting back there.
How can this water supply be put into practical use at a colony? Would some sort of wells have to be created? Has this even been thought out by space scientists and people at NASA?
We do not know enough about the places that water might be on the moon to tap into them
The water that was found is at the bottom of a crater that has not been exposed to sunlight in billions on years.
It would be too dangerous to even attempt to get water from that source.
All the experiement did was to show that there is water on the moon.
It is doubtful that there is water that could be reached by drilling a well.
NASA has put a great deal of time and effort into this issue.
However it will take more exploration to determine locations of water that might be exploitable for a moon colony.
