Allied troops captured by Japan or the Nazi’s were subjected to waterboarding. If waterboarding by the US is acceptable, why was it wrong in World War II?

I cannot believe how you can compare what the Japanese and the Germans did during World War 2 with what we have done with terrorists today.
If all they had done were waterboarding, then perhaps you might be right, HOWEVER, that was the least of their offenses!
For example -
Japan raped, murdered, beat, medically experimented on, deprived medical services, and deprived food to their prisoners – to name just a few.
Those in Gitmo have never experienced what happened in WW2, or Vietnam, for that matter.
But since it is Bush bashing season, and there is no sense in beating up on Obama, I guess you feel this is the best use of your time.

Magic, Mystery, & Mysticism
What is real? How many times have you seen an illusionist, someone like Criss Angel
walk on water or make people disappear right before your very own eyes and ask, how’d he do that? Did he really pull a rabbit out of a hat? Are those real doves? Do we dare enter into the the land of magic, mystery, or mysticism. Isn’t it safer to stay grounded in ones intellect?
The answers are YES and NO!
Yes, we need to enter into the only true reality of life which is the invisible world. And no we should not rely upon our intellect, power and might. Don’t foresake knowledge, but neither put it on the stage to be worshipped. Don’t bow down to anything but the Spirit of God which can only be known by spirit.
There are really only two roads that we can travel: the road of the visible and the road of the invisible.
Zecharia wrote (4:6) that life cannot be run by what comes from our mind or what comes from our might. Both have their place and are critical to leading a successful life, but they are by no means at the top of the food chain. The I AM that we are holds the mystery and mysticism that awakens our life.
God and I, I and God: 2 in 1, and 1 in 2. Something akin to the trinity where 1 is 3 and 3 is 1. God is in me and I am in God, I can do nothing without Him, and I can do ALL things with Him. Wikipedia describes mysticism as the pursuit of achieving communion, identity with, or conscious awareness of ultimate reality, the Other, divinity, spiritual truth, or God through direct experience, intuition, or insight. EXPERIENCE is the operative word. My doctrine, dogma, and intellectual mind formulas are a start, but a lousy place to end!

stage 6 water restrictions..?
i heard on the radio the other day that apparently if we get to stage six water restrictions (i live in melbourne nd we’re only on stage 3 but brisbane is on five) water will be cut off to houses and taps will be fitted to fire hydrants. Then in order to get water we will hav to go to them like we live in a third world country. has anyone heard the same kind of thing? wikipedia doesn’t have details for stage 6 restrictions.
You’re lucky you’re only on 3. We’re on 4 here in nsw but it is not that dissimilar to the level 5 in Qld. For example, those on level 5 in Qld are still allowed to water their garden a couple of days a week. We can’t water the garden at all on level 4 – watering cans only – no drip irrigation etc.
I don’t think that anyone will get to stage 6. Most places are looking at alternative water supplies – desalination plants, recycled water etc. This will hopefully give us more water so that stage 6 never gets imposed, not that i know what that would include. things would have to be dire for it tp reach that. I mean, my local dam is only at 13% capacity for a very large regional area and we are just starting to build desalination plants, so the water level would have to be virtually zero to turn off water.
I just wish those idiots that waster water would think twice about the future of this great country.
